While on her dream vacation to Jamaica, Joan begins to think she is being followed by a mysterious man lurking in the shadows. What starts as just an uneasy feeling easy enough to dismiss quickly becomes a spine-tingling fear that she is not imagining and cannot ignore. Joan becomes trapped in a nightmare with no one to turn to for help and no way to escape. Will Joan ever be able to lose her stalker or will she be doomed to live in a panic, having to constantly look over her shoulder at every turn?

This starts off an eerie stalker tale that throws the reader right in the middle of a gripping cat and mouse chase with Irene Precious, giving nothing but action straight from the very beginning. There are parts of Joan’s background that I was left questioning even at the end, and I wish were explained in more detail. I would like to have known more about Joan as a person back in Uganda prior to her vacation and the past events that shaped her leading up to this trip. However, what she lacks in character development, Irene Precious makes up for in location description. She does a phenomenal job of setting the scene and immersing the reader in the tropical paradise, able to practically see, feel, hear, smell, and taste the beauty of this island themselves.

While the first half of the book is very much a thriller, a little over halfway through, I felt the story took on a whole other type of genre. I was continuously tearing through each chapter, waiting for a twist that never came. This was a good story overall, but it was just not what I expected, especially after reading the synopsis and the first half of the book. I was left craving more twists and turns and instead got a much slower paced, if not bland, in the second half of the book. It could have been just me as someone who truly only enjoys a good thriller, mystery, or suspense novel, but I was let down in the end. However, if you enjoy genres outside of just thrillers, you will most likely enjoy this as well.
